XUE Song, holds a Bachelor’s degree from Peking University (major in Indonesian, minor in Sociology), a Master’s from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (International Relations, Asia-Pacific Studies), and a Ph.D. from Tsinghua University (International Relations). She has conducted research as at Cornell University and Paramadina University, Indonesia. In 2018, she joined the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University. From 2021 to 2023, she was seconded to the Political Section of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia. She has been a visiting fellow at the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute in Singapore and Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta in Indonesia. She has led research projects funded by the National Social Science Fund (Youth), Shanghai Philosophy and Social Science Fund (Youth), and the Ministry of Education’s programs on country and regional studies. Her policy reports have been adopted by the National Security Commission, the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, the Shanghai municipal government etc. Her commentary has appeared in China Social Sciences Net, Liaowang Think Tank, The Paper, The Diplomat, Jakarta Post, Jakarta Globe, Kompas, and Media Indonesia, and his research has been cited by China National Radio, South China Morning Post, and Lianhe Zaobao.
