On December 28th, 2023, the China University Think Tank Forum Annual Conference, themed Constructing Autonomous Knowledge Systems in Philosophy and Social Sciences: Frontier Theories, Innovative Practices, and Future Exploration, was held at Fudan University. Nearly 300 experts from over 70 universities and more than 150 institutes nationwide participated in the forum, providing insights for the construction of autonomous knowledge systems in philosophy and social sciences. Weng Tiehui, Member of the CPC Leading Group of the Ministry of Education and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education, and Qiu Xin, CPC Party Secretary of Fudan University Committee, attended the plenary session and delivered speeches. Zhang Donggang, CPC Party Secretary of Renmin University of China Committee, Liao Xiangzhong, CPC Party Secretary of Communication University of China Committee, Yang Dan, President of Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shen Zhuanghai, Executive Deputy Secretary of the CPC Party Committee of Wuhan University, and Professor Wu Xinbo, Director of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University, delivered keynote speeches on the construction of autonomous knowledge systems and the enhancement of consulting and policy-making capabilities in higher education from different perspectives. The plenary session was chaired by Chen Zhimin, Vice President of Fudan University. Throughout the conference, the Advisory Committee for the Strategic Construction of Autonomous Knowledge Systems in Philosophy and Social Sciences of Universities and the Academic Service Center for Philosophy and Social Sciences in Universities were officially established. Professor Wu Xinbo was appointed as a member of the Advisory Committee for the Strategic Construction of Autonomous Knowledge Systems in Philosophy and Social Sciences of Universities. It is noteworthy that the Advisory Committee for the Strategic Construction of Autonomous Knowledge Systems in Philosophy and Social Sciences of Universities was established by the Ministry of Education to accelerate the construction of China's independent knowledge system. The committee is set to comprehensively enhance the intellectual support capabilities of the education system and boost the development of think tanks. The committee will also function as a core expert pool and a consulting platform, playing roles in strategic assessment, agenda setting, and discourse construction. It aims to explore new models for organized research planning, harness synergies, and contribute to the development of university think tanks with Chinese characteristics, ultimately assisting in the construction of China's independent knowledge system.
