On November 2, 2022, the President of the U.S.-China Business Council Ambassador Craig Allen visited the Center for American Studies (CAS), Fudan University, for a dialogue hosted by CAS. On Craig Allen’s arrival, Prof. Wu Xinbo, the dean of the Institute of International Studies and the Director of the CAS, introduced the past and the present of the CAS.

Prof. Wu Xinbo and Ambassador Craig Allen co-hosted the “Dialogue on China-U.S. Relations.” They discussed issues of common interest, including the role of USCBC in China-U.S. relations, the challenges and prospects of China-U.S. economic and trade relations, the similarities and differences between the Trump and Biden administrations, whether the China-U.S. commercial relationship still serves as the ballast of the bilateral relationship and the ongoing 2022 American midterm election’s influence on China-U.S. relations.

Over 50 faculties and students at Fudan University participated in the dialogue online and offline. They proposed thought-provoking questions to Ambassador Craig Allen, including the possibility of new technology cold war between China and the U.S, how does American business community make their voice heard by the U.S. government and the possibility of China-U.S. economic and trade decoupling.
