On February 9th, 2021, Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan extends Spring Festival greetings to the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University. Lunar New Year Message from the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan conveys appreciation for assisting diplomatic endeavors with the best wishes to the whole community for ushering in thriving prospects accompanied by every success, joy and happiness onwards to mark the auspicious occasion. Fudan University’s Institute of International Studies places great emphasis on Pakistan studies. The Center for Pakistan Studies at Fudan University was founded in October 2009, co-established and co-led by the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing and Fudan University. The Center is one of the major research institutions for Pakistan studies in China, one of the initiators of China-Pakistan Joint Think Tank, and one of the organizers for the Pak-China Business Forum in Shanghai. The Center’s research areas encompass the political, economic, diplomatic, security situations in post-Cold War South Asia in general and Pakistan in particular, the relationship between China and South Asian countries, with focus on Sino-Pakistan relations and the China-Pakistan economic corridor, and the U.S. policy towards South Asia. Since its establishment, the Centre has been committed to building a think tank for in-depth study of Pakistan and China-Pakistan relations, a platform for various exchanges and cooperation between China and Pakistan, a base for cultivation of relevant professionals, and a window for fully understanding Pakistan and China- Pakistan friendship. Entrusted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, co-initiated by the Center for Pakistan Studies at Fudan University and Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad, the Inaugural and Second Pakistan-China Think-Tank Dialogues have been convened in the biennium 2019-2020. Within the duration of January 2002 to April 2005, Senior Research Fellow DU Youkang of the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University had been on secondment to the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan as First Secretary (Political Section). As of January 2019, Research Associate ZHANG Jiegen of the Center for Pakistan Studies at Fudan University has been on secondment to the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan as Second Secretary (Political and Press Section). At present, Research Associate ZHANG Jiegen holds fast to the position and it will be the third consecutive year for him in Pakistan to embrace the Spring Festival on the traditional Chinese calendar. Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan commended Research Associate ZHANG Jiegen as "Outstanding Individual in the Fight against COVID-19".
