On December 16th, 2019, the 12th Academic Symposium on American Strategic Orientations and Sino-U.S. Relations was convened at Auditorium 104, Center for American Studies, Fudan University. Over twenty experts and academics from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the International Economics and Finance Institute Affiliated to Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China, China Institute of International Studies, Academy of Military Sciences PLA China, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, Shanghai Institute for Science of Science, Tsinghua University and Fudan University presented attendance at the event. Professor WU Xinbo, Director of the Center for American Studies and Dean of the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University presided over the opening ceremony and addressed the plenary inaugural remarks. Evolving around and themed with "Furthering up Insights into Trump's Presidency", the distinguished participants cast spotlight on political and economic development in the United States, reviewed and perceived the dynamic relationship between the U.S. and major powers, profoundly elucidating the U.S. policies on Latin America, Middle East, the Asia-Pacific and Taiwan-Strait policy, probing into and dissecting the Trump administration’s prospective policies within priority scopes of international economics and business, military spheres as well as in the high-tech sectors. The animated atmosphere ever-lasted dipping into integrated fabulous delivery of speeches and interactive rounds to facilitate reviewing considerations and exchanging insightful perceptions with profundity amidst erudition-lit milieu at the day-long academic event. The Academic Symposium on American Strategic Orientations and China-U.S. Relations, acknowledged as one of the top-grade annually-held events, initiated and organized by the Center for American Studies at Fudan University, has been convened with enormous success for twelve consecutive years, serving as a vital platform for the academic experts and scholars who research on American studies at the prestigious institutes of higher learning and research institutions nationwide to conduct broad academic exchanges and cooperation in the realm of the dynamic orientations of American strategies and China-U.S. relations, which exert pivotal academic and social influence.
