On March 30th, 2024, the Joint Institute for American Studies of the Ministry of Education of the PRC and the Center for American Studies at Fudan University hosted the 14th Symposium on American Strategic Orientations and China-U.S. Relations. Nearly 30 experts and scholars in the field of American studies from institutes such as the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Institute of American Studies, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Academy of Military Sciences, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Wuhan University, Shanghai International Studies University, and Fudan University attended the seminar. Professor Wu Xinbo, the dean of the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University and director of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University, chaired the conference and delivered a speech. Focusing on three major topics: The Current Political, Economic, and Social Situation in the United States, The Current Strategy of the United States, and The Present and Future of Sino-U.S. Relations, the attending experts and scholars explored the latest developments in the United States' domestic political and economic situation. They conducted multi-dimensional and in-depth analyses of the stance and trends in U.S. foreign strategy, analyzing the current state and prospects of Sino-U.S. relations from strategic and tactical levels. The deputy director-general of the Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, Tang Zhiwen, delivered a keynote report on The Current Sino-U.S. Relations, and interacted with the experts and scholars. The participants delivered insightful speeches, engaged in enthusiastic discussions, exchanged ideas, and achieved significant results. The Symposium on American Strategic Orientations and China-U.S. Relations is an annual academic event hosted by the Center for American Studies at Fudan University. Since its inception in 2006, it has been successfully held for fourteen sessions and has become an important academic platform for experts and scholars engaged in research on American studies to exchange and deliberate on the strategic dynamics of the United States and Sino-U.S. relations.
