On July 3, 2021, the 9th World Peace Forum was convened at Tsinghua University in Bejing, themed with "International Security Cooperation in the Post-Pandemic Era: Upholding and Practicing Multilateralism". State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the opening ceremony of the Forum and delivered a keynote speech entitled "Safeguarding World Peace and Promoting Human Progress". Around 500 distinguished Chinese and foreign guests, including foreign ambassadors and think-tank scholars, presented attendance at the annual forum either online or offline. Upon invitation, Professor Wu Xinbo (Dean of the Institute of International Studies cum Director of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University) presented attendance at the plenary session revolving around the Geopolitical Repercussions of the Digital Age on July 2nd, in the presence of He Kai (Professor of International Relations, Griffth University, Australia), John J. Mearsheimer (R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished Service Professor of Political Science at The University of Chicago), Barry Buzan (Emeritus Professor of International Relations at The London School of Economics and Political Science), Kishore Mahbubani (Former Singapore Foreign Minister, Distinguished Fellow at the Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore). The ensuing interactive panel featured Professor Wu Xinbo (Dean of the Institute of International Studies cum Director of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University), Oratmangun Djauhari(Ambassador of The Republic Of Indonesia to The People's Republic Of China And Mongolia),Raja Dato' Nushirwan Zainal Abidin(Ambassador of Malaysia to The People's Republic of China), Arthayudh Srisamoot (Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to The People's Republic of China) and Professor Tao Jian (President, University of International Relations). Professor Wu Xinbo facilitated the sequel plenary panel concerning Asia-Pacific Security Cooperation and ASEAN's Role on July 3rd and the esteemed panelists occasioned robust analyses with regard to ASEAN's prominence in the evolving regional order. (Young Research Fellow Zhao Minghao’s Thematic Presentation at the Panel Session) The World Peace Forum, founded in 2012, is a non-governmental annual forum on international security hosted by Tsinghua University and co-organized by the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs. To date, it has held eight annual offline meetings, and in 2020, due to COVID-19, a special video conference was held instead. The World Peace Forum adheres to openness, inclusiveness, freedom and equality, and provides a platform for participants from all countries to express their views, exchange ideas and expound plans, encompassing issues on global, regional and thematic security.
