On the afternoon of April 25, 2024, the Center for Japanese Studies and the Center for China’s Relations with Neighboring Countries co-hosted a lecture on China's Maritime Strategy in the New Era: Opportunities and Challenges. The lecture featured a presentation by Pan Xinchun, Deputy President of the China Oceanic Development Foundation (CODF). Pan Xinchun is Former Director General of the Department of Integrated Marine Management of the State Oceanic Administration (SOA). (Pan Xinchun Lectured on China's Maritime Strategy in the New Era: Opportunities and Challenges.) In his lecture, Pan discussed China's achievements in maritime affairs, focusing on marine resource development, marine research, marine economic development, marine ecological protection, maritime governance, and international maritime cooperation. He highlighted the Ten Major Marine Actions initiated by the CODF. (Professor Hu Lingyuan, Director of the Center for Japanese Studies, moderated the lecture.) The lecture was moderated by Professor Hu Lingyuan, Director of the Center for Japanese Studies at Fudan University. Professor Qi Huaigao, Vice Dean of the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University, delivered the opening remarks. Professor Wei Zongyou from the Center for American Studies at Fudan University provided commentary. The lecture was attended by over 60 faculty members and students from various departments at Fudan University, including the Institute of International Studies, the School of International Relations and Public Affairs, and the Institute for Belt and Road & Global Governance.
