On the morning of May 28, Professor WU Xinbo, Director of the Center for American Studies(CAS) and Dean of the Institute of International Studies, together with Professor Ren Junfeng from the Department of Political Science, School of International Ralations and Public Affairs at Fudan University delivered fabulous speeches on Sino-U.S. relations and correlated issues on American politics respectively, elaborating on a series of the academic and hotspot issues widely-concerned by the delegation members . Following the visit, Professor Skidmore presented a keynote speech entitled "Changes in U.S. Domestic Politics under the Trump Administration" that afternoon at the 12th High-end Lecture Series hosted by Collaborative Innovation Center for New Model of China-U.S. Major-Country Relationship and Professor WU Xinbo, Executive Director of Collaborative Innovation Center for New Model of China-U.S. Major-Country Relationship moderated the event. In the course of the lecture, viewed from the perspectives of strata contradiction, identity conflict, political polarization and institutional transformation, Professor Skidmore dissected the acute issues existing in American politics, explored the impact of resurgence of populism on both the Republican side and the Democratic side, analyzing the challenges facing American political democracy with a complex background of the reconstruction of domestic political coalition and the edging-down public trust and confidence in the American authorities. At the conclusion of the event, Professor Skidmore conducted further active interactions and in-depth discussions with the audience on the related issues.
