The Fourteenth Fudan Symposium on China’s Neighborhood Diplomacy Successfully Held

 On 1-2 November 2024, the Fourteenth Fudan Symposium on China’s Neighborhood Diplomacy was successfully held at Fudan University. The symposium was hosted by the Institute of International Studies, Fudan University, and organized by the Center for China’s Relations with Neighboring Countries, Fudan University. This year, the theme of the symposium is “China’s Neighborhood Diplomacy in a Changing World: Concepts and Practices.” Over 40 experts and scholars from China, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Russia, and Kazakhstan participated in the symposium. Professor Wu Xinbo, Dean of the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University, chaired the opening ceremony and delivered opening remarks.

 Miao Deyu, Assistant Minister of the PRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered a video keynote speech. Miao Deyu noted that in today’s world undergoing great changes, Asia is a valuable plate with stability, a development hub with strong impetus, a constructive force focused on cooperation, and a big family united for progress. China is willing to work with neighboring countries to promote Asian values, make Asia a peaceful, safe and secure, prosperous, beautiful, amicable and harmonious home, and jointly build an Asian community with a shared future.

 The symposium consisted of five sessions, respectively covering topics including “Diplomatic Concepts of Asia in a Changing World,” “China—Northeast Asia Relations in a Changing World,” “China—Russia-Central Asia Relations in a Changing World,” “China—Southeast Asia Relations in a Changing World,” and “China—South Asia Relations in a Changing World.”

 The Fudan Symposium on China’s Neighborhood Diplomacy has been held since 2013. It has become an important platform for scholars from China and neighboring countries to engage in fruitful discussions about China’s neighborhood diplomacy.
