CCER Fudan Co-hosts Book Launch and Academic Symposium with Hungarian Think Tank

On November 24, 2025, the Center for China–Europe Relations of the Institute of International Studies, Fudan University (CCER Fudan) and the Eurasia Center of John von Neumann University co-hosted a book launch and academic symposium in Budapest, Hungary, marking the release of Sino-European Relations and the Reshaping of the International Order. The event also commemorated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union.

More than 50 scholars and think tank experts from China, Hungary, Serbia, the Netherlands, and other countries participated in the symposium. Under the theme “Rethinking and Reshaping China–Europe Relations in a Turbulent World,” participants held in-depth discussions on the current landscape and future prospects of China–Europe relations amid global geopolitical shifts.

Keynote remarks were delivered by Gong Tao, Ambassador of China to Hungary; Gyula Thürmer, Chair of the Hungarian Workers’ Party; and Xu Mingqi, Honorary President of the Shanghai Institute for European Studies.

Levente Horváth, Director of the Eurasia Center, and Jian Junbo, Director of CCER Fudan, served as co-editors of the volume. They respectively chaired the opening session and provided an overview of the book’s compilation process and thematic contributions. Yan Shaohua, Deputy Director of CCER Fudan, and Fang Jiongsheng, Associate Professor at Shandong University’s School of Political Science and Public Administration, participated in the symposium as chapter authors and representatives from the Chinese academic delegation.
