On October 11th, 2019, the Center for American Studies (CAS) at Fudan University held convention meeting in the new semester, facilitated by Professor WU Xinbo, Director of the Center for American Studies and Dean of the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University. Director WU, in the first place, briefed on and reviewed the major periodic headway in concerted endeavors by the CAS faculty members and academic fellows as a whole, subsequently conveying the highlights of core missions at the Managerial Convention for Key Research Institutes of Humanities and Social Sciences in University organized by Ministry of Education of The People’s Republic of China, putting forward the proposals that the CAS community pertain to the diverse capacity-building and appraisal fundamentals called upon by the Ministry of Education with respect to constructing Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences in University, continuously pursue the repository of scientific approaches, enhance research innovation strengths to harvest prominent academic outputs, expediting the compilation and publication of Strategic Report on Sino-U.S. Relations, Series on the United States and the World in the 21st Century as well as facilitating the constructive project of American Studies Database with a sound impetus. In the ensuing section, Deputy Director SONG Guoyou presented the editorial publication of Fudan American Review, Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) source core journal issued by CAS and advances in constructing the Database of International Relations at Fudan University. Deputy Director XIN Qiang elaborated on the specific routine maintenance and day-to-day implementation with regard to operating and managing the Database Platform of Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences in University correspondingly. To steadily foster and proactively boost the exemplary academic yields in full swing, attendants present at the convention meeting conducted in-depth exchanges of views and exploration into the 13th Five-Year Plan with the new-round appraisal-related criteria of Key Research Institutes of Humanities and Social Sciences in University nationwide to propel the construction of top university-affiliated think tanks with ever-growing impact driven by originality and expertise while instilling momentum into the orientation of new-type specialised think tanks with horizon targets forward.
