The International Youth Academic Symposium on Sino-Japanese Relations Convened in Shanghai

   On October 12-13, 2019, The International Youth Academic Symposium on Sino-Japanese Relations, organized by Center for Japanese Studies, Fudan University and auspiced by Toshiba International Foundation, was convened in Shanghai.

Professor Hu Lingyuan, Director of the Center for Japanese Studies at Fudan University, Keisuke Ohmori from Toshiba International Foundation addressed the welcome remarks in the opening ceremony, conveying the earnest expectations of jointly building an academic community and an exchange network of friendship between Chinese and Japanese youths.

   The Year 2019 witnesses the occasion of China-Japan Youth Exchange Promotion Year. Bilateral ties consist in the close relationship between the peoples. Young people are the hope of a country and a nation and represent the future of China-Japan relations.The platform for active interaction and exchanges amidst young scholars from both sides generates far-reaching significance for deepening mutual understanding, enhancing trust and promoting regional peace and prosperity.

   In the ensuing sessions, Ms. Yang Jian, Director of the Center for China’s Relations with Neighboring Countries at Fudan University and former Counselor and Deputy Director-General, Department of Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The People’s Republic of China, and Professor Kamo Tomoki, Faculty of Policy Management, Keio University delivered keynote speeches. Subsequently, young scholars from China and Japan conducted in-depth discussions with regard to Sino-Japanese relations, political diplomacy, economic trade, historical thinking and social culture, involving Japanese foreign policy, all-round collaboration between China and Japan, Japanese public diplomacy, reform of international governance system, BRI, research on Japanese political and ideological history , Chinese and Japanese educational philosophies, Japanese Studies in China, Chinese Studies in Japan and other correlated issues.

  Academics from Peking University, Renmin Univeristy of China, Naikai University, Shanghai International Studies University, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai University of International Economics and Business,  Institute of Scientific & Technical Information of Shanghai, Fudan University, Tokyo University, Tohoku University, Keio University, Waseda University, Aichi University, Seikei University, Chubu University, Institute of Developing Economies presented attendance at the grand event.  (Preceding English Paragraphs by Mao Xiaojun)
