On April 22, 2025, the “China-Bangladesh Roundtable on International Relations” was successfully held at Fudan University in Shanghai. Co-hosted by the Center for South Asian Studies (CSAS) of the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University and Bangladeshi Diplomatic Delegation, the roundtable brought together scholars, diplomats, and experts in international affairs to engage in in-depth dialogue on topics including China-Bangladesh relations, regional cooperation, strategic partnerships, and the structural competition between China and the United States.

The roundtable opened with welcome remarks from both Chinese and Bangladeshi representatives. Speakers emphasized the long-standing friendship between the two countries and expressed optimism about deepening cooperation in areas such as trade, security, and cultural exchange. Professor Zhang Jiadong, Director of the CSAS Fudan, highlighted the significance of the Belt and Road Initiative in fostering closer ties and regional connectivity.

The roundtable featured two thematic discussions. The first, chaired by Dr. Zhang Jiegen, Director of the Pakistan Study Centre at Fudan University, focused on regional cooperation and strategic connectivity in South Asia. The second, chaired by Professor Zhang Jiadong, addressed the evolving structure of China-U.S. competition and pressing regional security concerns. These sessions facilitated candid and constructive exchanges between participants, deepening mutual understanding.
