The Delegation Led by Professor Wu Xinbo Attends the Forum in Honor of Jimmy Carter & The 45th Anniversary of US-China Relations

  From January 9th to 10th, 2024, the Forum in Honor of Jimmy Carter & The 45th Anniversary of US-China Relations unfolded at the Carter Center in Atlanta, USA. Organized by the Carter Center and co-sponsored by the National Committee on US-China Relations and the US-China Business Council, the event was co-hosted by the Center for American Studies (CAS) at Fudan University, China. Professor Wu Xinbo, serving as the Director of CAS, together with Deputy Directors of the CAS-Professor Xin Qiang and Professor Song Guoyou, actively participated in this two-day conference. This commemorative gathering, marking the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and the United States, garnered considerable attention from both nations.

  The event witnessed video speeches from prominent figures such as Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng, US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns, and US Congresswoman Judy Chu. Chinese Minister-Counselor Jing Quan was also present. More than 100 officials, experts, scholars, and business elites from renowned institutions including Fudan University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, the Institute of American Studies under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Institute for Contemporary China and World Studies under the China Foreign Languages Bureau, Harvard University, Yale University, Georgetown University, Center for Strategic and International Studies, Asia Society, Ford Foundation, and others actively engaged in the conference. Discussions were both dynamic and in-depth, covering a spectrum of topics ranging from China-American politics, diplomacy, security, technology, finance, trade, education, and cultural exchanges to climate change.

  Throughout the conference, Professor Wu Xinbo delivered a keynote speech titled Politics and Military Security in China-American Relations on January 9th and subsequently delivered the keynote address at the main session on January 10th. His presentations also included a discussion on Restoring Academic Exchange between China and the United States. Professor Song Guoyou and Professor Xin Qiang contributed presentations on various subjects, encompassing Sino-American trade, supply chain stability, and the Taiwan issue.
