On February 27, 2024, Miao Deyu, Assistant Foreign Minister and Director-General of the Department of Policy Planning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, held a new round of foreign policy planning consultation with Salman Ahmed, Director of the U.S. Secretary of State’s Policy Planning Staff, in Shanghai. The two sides had candid, in-depth and constructive communication on respective foreign policies, international situation and regional hotspot issues.
Following the meeting, Professor Wu Xinbo, Dean of the Institute of International Studies and Director of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University, was invited to a dinner discussion with Director Ahmed, Robert Williams, Senior Advisor at the Office of China Coordination at the U.S. State Department, and Todd Stein, the Deputy Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai. They engaged in in-depth discussions on the current international situation, Sino-U.S. relations, and U.S. policy towards China.
Professor Xin Qiang, Deputy Director of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University, also participated in the exchange activities.
