On August 20, 2025, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a certificate awarding ceremony for its 2025–2027 Key Cooperative Research Institute for Policy Studies. Professor Wu Xinbo, Dean of the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University (IIS Fudan), attended the ceremony and received the certificate on behalf of the Institute. This marks the fifth consecutive term that IIS Fudan has been designated a “Key Cooperative Research Institute for Policy Studies” by the Ministry.

Since its initial appointment in 2013, IIS Fudan has consistently aligned its research agenda with the strategic priorities and policy needs of the Ministry. The IIS Fudan has maintained close and productive cooperation across various areas, including policy research, decision-making consultation, and diplomatic fieldwork. These efforts have been repeatedly recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has also provided strong support for the Institute’s development.

Building on this milestone, IIS Fudan will further promote the development of the newly established first-level interdisciplinary discipline of Area Studies. The IIS Fudan aspires to become a leading academic hub for international and area studies in China, a premier think tank supporting national strategy and diplomacy, a top-tier platform for cultivating and attracting high-end talent, and a vital international channel for advancing Chinese academic discourse.

Looking ahead, the IIS Fudan will continue to enhance its capabilities in five key areas: academic research, talent development, policy consultation, international dialogue, and public diplomacy.
