On December 14th, 2018, the 11th Symposium on American Strategic Orientations and Sino-U.S. Relations: The Trump Administration’s Foreign Policy Review was convened at Auditorium 104, Center for American Studies, Fudan University. Over 20 scholars and experts from Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, The International Economics and Finance Institute Affiliated to Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China, Department for European Studies Affiliated to China Institute of International Studies, Academy of Military Sciences PLA China, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, Fudan University,Renmin University of China and Shanghai International Studies University attended the event. Professor Wu Xinbo, Director of the Center for American Studies and Dean of the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University presided over the opening ceremony and addressed the welcome remarks and Mr. Zhou Qiangwu, Director of the International Economics and Finance Institute Affiliated to the Ministry of Finance of China delivered the keynote speech to all the distinguished guests present at the academic event.
At the symposium, the scholars and experts present focused their insights on the 2018 U.S. Midterm Elections and Trump's diplomatic policies, profoundly elucidated and reviewed the Trump administration’s China policy, China-U.S. Strategic interactions, the U.S. policies on Russia, Middle East, Korean Peninsula, Europe, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific,conducting extensive academic exchanges and probing into the Trump administration’s foreign policies as well as the future orientations of Sino-U.S. relations.
The Symposium on American Strategic Orientations and China-U.S. Relations, acknowledged as one of the top-grade annually-held academic events, initiated by Center for American Studies, Fudan University and Collaborative Innovation Center for New Model of China-U.S. Major-Country Relationship. Since 2008, the symposium have been held with great success for eleven consecutive years, serving as a vital platform for the academic experts and scholars who research on American studies at the prestigious institutes of higher learning and research institutions nationwide to conduct broad academic exchanges and cooperation in the field of the dynamic orientations of American strategies and China-U.S. relations, which exert great academic and social influence.
