On August 23-24, 2018, researchers of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University, including Professor SONG Guoyou, Professor WEI Zongyou, Professor CAI Cuihong, Associate Professor PAN Yaling, Associate Professor TU Yichao and Assistant Professor WANG Hao attended the 6th National Youth Forum on American Studies hosted by Institute of American Studies Affiliated to China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR). Over 30 young scholars from Institute of American Studies, CICIR, Fudan University, Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Renming University of China and Chinese Aeronautical Establishment attended the forum.
At this year’s forum with the themed of "Sino-U.S. Relations against the Background of United States Midterm Election", the young delegates conducted in-depth discussions on such issues as U.S. Domestic Affairs and Midterm Election, U.S. Diplomacy and Strategy, Sino-U.S. Economic and Trade Frictions and Sino-U.S. Relations. Professor SONG Guoyou, Deputy Director of Center for American Studies, Fudan University delivered the opening ceremony speech and chaired the Session Sino-U.S. Economic and Trade Frictions as the representative of the above-mentioned initiators. Professor WEI Zongyou, Professor CAI Cuihong, Associate Professor PAN Yaling, Associate Professor TU Yichao and Assistant Professor WANG Hao prensented speeches entitled Status Anxiety and the Adjustment of the Trump Administration’s China Strategy, Trump’s Administration over Twitter and American Political Landscape, A Brief Analysis of the Prospect of China-U.S. People-to-People and Regional Exchanges, Religion and U.S. Policy of Democratic Initiatives towards China’s Neighboring Countries at the forum respectively.
National Youth Forums on American Studies are initiated by the Center for American Studies at Fudan University and vigorously supported by Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Institute of American Studies, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations. As of 2013, the forums have been held with great success for six consecutive years.
