On July 1, 2024, the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University (IIS Fudan) hosted a delegation from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) for an academic symposium on China-Russia Relations in the New Era. This event was supported by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Russian Federation and organized by the Center for Russian and Central Asian Studies at Fudan University (CRCAS Fudan) and the Center for Shanghai Cooperation Organization Studies at Fudan University (CSCOS Fudan).
The MGIMO delegation included Professor Barsky, Director of the Department of Diplomacy; Dr. Reinhart, Deputy Director; Professor Zinovieva from the Department of World Politics; and Researcher Terieva from the American Studies Center. Participants from Fudan University included Prof. Wu Xinbo, Dean of the Institute of International Studies and Director of the Center for American Studies (CAS); Prof. Zhao Huasheng from the CRCAS; Prof. Sun Degang, Assistant Dean and Director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies; Prof. Wei Zongyou from the CAS; Prof. Zhao Weihua, Director of the Center for China’s Relations with Neighboring Countries (CCRNC); Assoc. Prof. Ma Bin from CRCAS; Assoc. Prof. Jiang Tianjiao, Deputy Director of the Center for BRICS Studies; and Ms. Chen Xiao from the Office of Global Partnerships at Fudan University.
The symposium was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Ma Bin. Prof. Wu Xinbo and Prof. Barsky delivered the opening remarks, introducing the research and teaching activities of the IIS Fudan and MGIMO. Scholars from both countries discussed various topics, including the evolving world order, regional cooperation, the Belt and Road Initiative, the Eurasian Economic Union, China-Russia relations, and information security.
