Biography of Dr. Arie Kusuma Paksi
Dr. Arie Kusuma Paksi serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of International Relations, situated within the Faculty of Social and Political Studies at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Dr. Arie received his doctoral degree in Peace and International Development from the University of Bradford, United Kingdom.
His scholarly interests are diverse, encompassing Political Economy, International Trade, Foreign Investment, Development Intervention, and Southeast Asian geopolitics. Over the course of his academic career, he has engaged in an array of collaborative research endeavors and has a substantial publication record in peer-reviewed academic journals. These scholarly contributions have been instrumental in shedding light on the economic ramifications of international trade agreements, the socio-economic impacts of foreign investments in developing nations, and the intricate dynamics of political economy in the Southeast Asian context.
During his term as a Visiting Scholar, Dr. Arie is meticulously working to finalize an article that interrogates the implications of China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in Indonesia. The focus of this manuscript is on the High Speed Train Project and its potentiality to catalyze infrastructural development within Indonesia. This inquiry aims to augment the existing body of knowledge regarding the influence of international development projects on domestic economies and infrastructure, and aspires to yield novel insights into the realms of Political Economy and Development Intervention, particularly as they relate to the Belt and Road Initiative's impact on Indonesian economic and infrastructural landscapes.
