On August 24, 2019, the Symposium on “Strengthening Collaborative Exchanges in the Realm of American Research Academics ”Cum The Chinese Association of American Studies(CAAS) General Membership Assembly was convened at Center for American Studies, Fudan University.
Professor WU Xinbo, Director of the Center for American Studies and Dean of the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University moderated the event. Counsellor ZHOU Zheng from the Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered the keynote speech and over 100 scholars and experts from domestic American research circles attended the symposium. At the fabulous event, the leaders, directors and members of CAAS conducted in-depth and robust explorations with regard to the status quo, accomplishments, issues and challenges of American research academia in China, putting forward proposals on strengthening cooperative exchanges in the academic community to vigorously engage in American studies.
In the ensuing Chinese Association of American Studies General Membership Assembly, attendants present at the General Assembly voted to adopt the amendment proposal of the association, approved the upfront phase for the Finance and Economics Branch, the Science and Technology Branch and the Youth Branch, endorsing the new membership fee standards and the relevant approaches for disbursement.
