The 12th U.S.-China Diplomatic Dialogue (USCDD) Convened in Yuexi, Anhui Province, China

   On September 21-22, 2019, organized by Center for American Studies, Fudan University and Manchester China Institute, sponsored by Shanghai Institute of American Studies and assisted by Yuexi County Government, The 12th U.S.-China Diplomatic Dialogue(USCDD) was successfully held in Anhui Province, China. Nine Chinese delegates from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and eight young diplomats from the Embassy and Consulates of the United States participated in the dialogue. Professor WU Xinbo(Director of the Center for American Studies, Dean of the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University; President of Shanghai Institute of American Studies) and Professor Peter Hays Gries(Director of the Manchester China Institute, Professor of Chinese Politics,The University of Manchester) moderated the event. 

  In the two-day U.S.-China Diplomatic Dialogue, young diplomats from China and the United States conducted in-depth, constructive and sincere panel discussions on such issues with regard to maintaining Sino-U.S. social and cultural exchanges, how to manage Sino-U.S. trade disputes, technological and security competition in East Asia as well as prospects for bilateral relations in the next five years. During the sessions, the local government also organized a guided tour of social-economic development and poverty relief programs of Yuexi County, the construction of new urbanization and ecological civilization, which enhanced the insightful comprehension of China's national conditions further onwards. 

  Initiated in 2007, the U.S.-China Diplomatic Dialogue is held annually in China and the U.S. in rotation, vigorously supported by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and United States Department of State, to create a platform for young Chinese and American diplomats, seeking to generate mutual trust and foster Sino-U.S. relations.
