Abstract
This article finds that the West’s leading narrative often finds competition as a driver in India’s and China’s approach to the Global South. Though India and China did not coordinate their policies, there are some consistencies in their approach towards the Russia-Ukraine war. There are also divergent responses between China and India towards the Israel-Palestine conflict, which nonetheless show both countries attempting to amplify the collective voices of the Global South. However, the complex intra-member relations of the Global South are preventing them from developing further cooperation, which partly explains why the group still falls short of expectations.
