From May 4 to May 26, 2024, General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of Pakistan, visited Pakistan Study Centre of the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University (IIS Fudan). On the afternoon of May 14, General Hayat delivered an academic lecture titled Emerging Global Order: A Strategic Perspective to the faculty and students of Fudan University.

In his lecture, General Hayat focused on the theme of the emerging global order and its impacts on global and regional dynamics. He analyzed the historical development of the global order, pivotal moments in its formation, and the shifting powers within it. He also discussed how factors such as technology transfer, climate change, migration, and global pandemics are influencing the formation of the global order against the backdrop of major power competition.

The lecture was moderated by Professor Wu Xinbo, Dean of the IIS Fudan. Attendees included Dr. Zhang Jiegen, Director of the Pakistan Study Centre, Professor Sun Degang, Director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, Associate Professor Xie Chao from the Center for South Asia Studies, and Fudan faculty and students. General Hayat answered questions from the audience regarding Pakistan's strategic importance, the role of Islamic countries in the global order, and the roles of China and Pakistan in global governance.
