From September 22 to 29, 2024, a six-member delegation led by the Center for American Studies at Fudan University (CAS Fudan) conducted research in Washington, D.C., Boston, and New York. The delegation included Professor Wei Zongyou, Professor Hu Lingyuan (Director of the Center for Japanese Studies at Fudan University), Associate Professor Wang Guangtao, Professor Zhang Jiadong (Director of the Center for South Asian Studies at Fudan University), Associate Professor Xie Chao, and Professor Zheng Jiyong (Director of the Center for Korean Studies at Fudan University).
During the visit, the delegation engaged with prominent U.S. think tanks, universities, and research institutes, including the Brookings Institution, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the Stimson Center, George Washington University, the U.S.-China Education Trust, Johns Hopkins University, the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard University, Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and the India China Institute at The New School in New York. Their research focused on the U.S. election, U.S.-China relations, and the Asia-Pacific alliances of the U.S., with several academic seminars held in collaboration with institutes such as the U.S. Carter Center.
The delegation also attended a meeting at the Chinese Embassy in the United States, where they presented brief reports on the U.S. election, U.S.-China relations, and U.S. alliances. Their research and exchange activities concluded successfully.
