On January 10, 2025, the Unrest and Reshaping: Fudan International Strategic Report 2024 was officially released. The launch event was hosted by Professor Wu Xinbo, Dean of the Institute of International Studies and the Director of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University. Thirteen experts in regional studies, including Xin Qiang, Song Guoyou, Lin Minwang, Sun Degang, Zhang Jiadong, and He Ping, gave presentations. The event was attended by nearly 120 faculty members and students from Fudan University, and over 40 other institutes, such as Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, and Nanjing University. Media outlets like The Paper, South China Morning Post, and Lianhe Zaobao were also present.

To begin with, Professor Wu Xinbo pointed out that the most significant feature of the international landscape in 2024 was the resonance of domestic politics and geopolitical conflicts. He noted unexpected political shifts in countries like the UK, France, Germany, and the United States, particularly with the return of Trump, which caused major tremors in the international scene. He also emphasized the intensification of geopolitical crises, including the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the Israel-Palestine conflict, which added greater uncertainty to the global situation.

Regarding China's foreign policy, Professor Wu stressed that in 2024, China played a stabilizing role in promoting peace talks, fostering global economic growth, and driving international cooperation. He highlighted China’s commitment to global governance and its open, win-win approach, which provided a positive influence and made the world look to China with anticipation. He believes that in the face of growing global uncertainty, China can bring more certainty to the world.

The report comprises 14 topics covering international politics, global economics, and regional geopolitics. Professor Xin Qiang discussed the shocks and reshaping of international politics in 2024, Professor Song Guoyou addressed the stability and challenges in the global economy, Professor Lin Minwang explored China’s diplomatic efforts to foster stability and unity, and Professor Wu Xinbo analyzed the political shifts in the United States with the return of Donald Trump. Other experts, including Associate Professor Ma Bin, Associate Professor Jian Junbo, Professor He Ping, Professor Zhang Jiadong, Professor Zheng Jiyong, Professor Zhao Weihua, Professor Sun Degang, Professor Zhang Chun, and Associate Professor Cao Ting, provided in-depth analyses on the political dynamics and future trends in regions such as Russia, Europe, Japan, India, the Korean Peninsula, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

Since 2013, the Fudan Institute of International Studies has published the Fudan International Strategic Report annually, making it a significant intellectual product of the Fudan think tank, with wide-ranging social influence.
